Octave developed the Cat synthesizer in the middle of the Minimoog and ARP Odyssey era. This vintage classic resembles the Arp Odyssey in design so much that ARP later sued them for the design clone. In terms of engineering and construction, many reviewers agree that the Cat synthesizer is actually an improved version of the ARP Odyssey. However, sonic differences are clearly discernible for many users, which gives the Cat Synthesizer its raison d’être. The Cat allows the creation of soft leads and in the lower frequency ranges, the cat begins to purr.
